Be careful what you believe

A friend of mine tried to pull this on us with the word “wizard.” John was completely full of BS when he said Tolkien made up that word; the Etymology shows it going back to the 1440’s.

The Internet lies to you.

Edit: if I’m going to say something, I better provide proof to back it up.

It was originally published by the George M. Hill Company in Chicago in 1900, versus The story began as a sequel to Tolkien’s earlier, less complex children’s fantasy novel The Hobbit (1937),

Yes, I know my hypocrisy knows no bounds by referencing Wikipedia :P, but I’m fairly certain those dates are right. Don’t make me go looking for more links. 😛

And yes, I know this is a lot of effort to contradict someone, but if I’m going to be right, I’m going to prove it.
