Who do I have to blow to save money on gas?

You gotta be fucking kidding me?

Taxes, taxes, taxes. Why do people assume that taxes will fix all problems?

Despite calls from the presidential campaign trail for a Memorial Day-to-Labor Day tax freeze, lawmakers quickly concluded — with a prod from the construction industry — that having $9 billion less to spend on highways could create a pre-election specter of thousands of lost jobs.

*breathes in, breathes out* So who in the FUCK is running this country? Here’s the thing: we, the people, are paying for this. That gas tax? It’s going to hit US, the people. Do you think the oil companies are going to swallow that money? No, they will pass it on to the consumer. Bloody Fucking US.

And the reason the politicians are going to do it? Not because they are thinking about the little people. They are thinking about votes, they are thinking about their own well-bling. Yes, lost jobs are a bad thing. I’ve been out of a job and looking three times, on unemployment once (I used saved money for the other two times; once because I got fired and had to, and the other because I was too fucking depressed to go through the motions to get on unemployment.)

So yeah, these SIAs that are running the country are going to do this because it would garner them votes. Yet, no one stops and thinks about what a gas tax would do to the economy. People are travelling less now, increasing the gas tax will hurt the economy even more, especially if gas taxes go through the roof. Gasoline is part of the life blood of this nation. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING you buy gets to your local store by Semi-trucks, which oddly enough runs on gasoline (diesel, if you want to pick nits.) The end result if they aren’t careful is recession. Then again, maybe it’s what they want. You know, ole Bush looks bad enough, why not have the rest of the bad shit happen on his watch, so whoever ends up in the White House ends up looking like Clinton. Without the cigars, of course.
